New Patients

Due to the heavy load looking after our existing patients, we are not accepting new patients.

Appointments:

Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and doctor.  We have a limited number of “On the Day” appointments for urgent matters.  Emergencies are triaged by our nursing staff and urgent matters will always be given priority.  Our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforseen delay or your doctor has been called away.  A standard consultation is designed for a single matter. Longer appointments are available so please let reception know if you require extra time.  If you are unable to attend your appointment please phone the surgery with as much notice as possible. “Did not attend” fees may apply. SMS appointment reminders will be sent to you, the day prior to your appointment if you have consented to this option.

After Hours:

We share an afterhours private oncall roster with other private doctors in the town; Atherton Family Medical Centre and Atherton Clinic.  To contact the private doctor on-call, phone the afterhours mobile phone on 0418 184 070. For Life threating Emergencies please contact 000.  We encourage our patients to use this after hour’s service rather than the public hospital outpatient department.

Home Visits:

Home visits are available to regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.  If you feel you require a home visit please contact reception/nursing staff to discuss the issue.

Results

For results please phone the practice nurse between 3 and 4 pm any afternoon. The doctor/nurse will contact you for any significant abnormal test results.

Repeat Scripts:

Repeat prescriptions require a consultation. In exceptional circumstances a script may be supplied without a consultation and a non-Medicare refundable fee will be charged and no repeats will be included.

Payment Policy:

We do not bulk bill at this practice with exception to Aged pensioners and children under the age of 15 years.  Payment is expected at the time of consultation. Please ask our reception staff if you require any information regarding your billing.

Privacy

This practice is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of your personal health information.  Your medical record is a confidential document.  It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.

Patient Feedback and Complaints

From time to time this practice will conduct surveys in the form of a questionnaire to obtain consumer input into the running of the practice.  These surveys are completely confidential and help us improve our services.

It is important to us that any complaints regarding the surgery are brought to our attention.  If you are unsatisfied in any way, please contact the Practice Manager.   However, if you wish for a complaint to be dealt with by an outside body you may contact the Health Ombudsmen 133 646 or complaints@oho.qld.gov.au
